New Moon in Capricorn
Welcome to the first New Moon of the year, in practical Capricorn. Capricorn also highlights where we are being stubborn.
- Are you being stubborn about something or someone?
- Are you holding on to a grudge or grievance?
- Do you really want to drag that into this year as well?
- Is it/they really worth wasting any more of your energy on?
We have far more important things that will require our energy in 2024.
Many years ago, I coined the phrase New Year Window when clients couldn’t get going in the New Year. That’s because the New Year doesn’t kick into gear straight away. The New Year Window opens on 1st January and closes at the end of Chinese New Year (in February).
The New Year Window is the ideal time for having a massive clear-out and doing your spring cleaning. Clear all the clutter before Chinese New Year starts (10th Feb). Be ruthless, as this year especially, it’s so important that you clear space for new abundance and opportunities to come in, and the New Year Window is the ideal time to do it.
This New Moon gives you the energy to get started as Capricorn rules the practicalities of life. As well as clearing and cleaning, Capricorn also nudges you to get your career plans in order this year, as well as your finances – do you really need all those subscriptions, do you use them all? How often did you use your gym membership last year? You get the idea, it’s time to take a look at where your money goes every month and then plan your financial goals for 2024.

New Moons are about new beginnings, and this one is especially powerful for setting your goals, dreams, and desires for 2024. Don’t limit yourself, think big even if what you want may seem ridiculous, put it all down on paper, this is for the long-term. Then have fun creating a Vision Board for it, so that you can see it every day.
Amongst all this practicality, the New Moon light also shines on your spirituality. Capricorn helps you to get your third-dimension life together in order to have a solid base from which you can develop further spiritually. This is important for 2024, last year was a tough year for many, spirituality as well as self-care, ended up bottom of the list. This year everything needs to be done differently, get out of the ruts and bad habits and start doing things differently, it will transform you and enhance your life.
2024 is an 8 year – my favourite number for abundance. This is the year for overcoming - last year brought hardship and challenges for many, this year you will be able to overcome these, no more struggle, this is the year for you to move forward and upwards. The Wheel of Fortune after being stuck for most of 2023, is finally moving upwards again.
8 is also the number of creativity and karma. The most important thing this year is to not create any bad karma as it will reverberate for years to come. This year is about healing old karma and creating good karma. This will help not only ourselves, but also energetically, it will help all Beings.
The number 8 is also the symbol of infinity, where past, present and future are woven together. Even more reason to create only good karma this year, as the 8 magnifies!
8 is the number of the Entrepreneur and also the Witch/Wise Woman (another reason why I love this number!) and encourages you to use your inner wisdom in all that you do this year, don't let logic override your intuition, trust your gut.
The 8 year encourages you to be disciplined and rewards you with abundance. The 8 reminds you that you can achieve and manifest whatever you desire this year. Capricorn nudges us to see where we have been undisciplined and not putting the effort in, now’s the time to change that. The 8 lets you know that you are perfectly capable, and you have the power - be disciplined, be organized and be willing to put all your effort into it (this includes putting effort into every area of your life this year).
8 will expand you, 8 says ‘be bold, be big, strut your stuff!’
Countries connected to the 8 are; Argentina, Poland, China, Alaska, Papua New Guinea, Greenland – you may feel drawn to travel to one or more of these places.
In Chinese Astrology it’s a Wood Dragon year. I love dragons, they bring such protective energy.
The Wood Dragon relates to success, intelligence and honour and brings growth, progress and abundance. Health improves, vitality returns and it’s a year of creativity.

Does this mean it will be all plain sailing in 2024? Nope. Life always has its ups and downs; it’s how we deal with them that matters. Our beautiful planet is still going through Her dark night, however the light at the end of the tunnel is getting nearer, the way out is getting brighter, the changes are happening, and it will all come good in the end.
In 2024 persistence is rewarded. Don’t let anything throw you off course or drag you down this year, especially anything in the media. Just keep going with your dreams and goals because you WILL get there.
