New Moon in Virgo
We are entering the Dark Nights of the Moon between now and the New Moon in Virgo on 27th August. You will feel more tired than usual as the Earth Mother’s magnetism pulls you downwards towards Her. She wants you to stop and go inwards over the next few days to prepare for the New Moon.
Earthy, practical and precise Virgo likes things done properly as they are the organisers of the zodiac. People are drawn to their calm, capable, likeable personalities and their great sense of humour. They are devoted to those they love. On the shadow side they can be hypercritical if people/situations do not come up to their own high standards. They are loyal friends and humble, not realising how lovely and talented they truly are. Animals love them too. They have a natural affinity with plants and many Virgos are drawn to herbalism. They need to ensure no-one abuses their kindness and practicality by treating them like doormats. This is a great New Moon for all Virgos.
We can all learn from Virgo and implement Virgo’s practicality and organisation into our lives. It’s a great time to declutter – what’s messy? How’s that understairs cupboard or that full drawer, the garage or the basement? How can you simplify and make life/work easier for yourself?
And it’s not just our physical environment but also whatever is outdated and no longer works, including old beliefs, old habits and stale old routines. This New Moon invites us to sweep away the old, clean away the old and create a clean, space for the new to come in.
How’s your health? Are you looking after yourself properly? Are you remembering self-care and building in time for it? Virgo is all about creating healthy routines and this is the perfect time for all of us to get a good routine in place that will carry us through the Winter months.
Uranus (The Awakener) is retrograde until 22nd January 2023. Uranus shakes things up so fixed signs such as Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio might experience a few ups and downs during this transit. Uranus shakes things up so that you can experience breakthroughs in areas where you have become stuck or complacent.
This shake-up is especially relevant to how we have been treating Mother Earth and Her resources. Uranus in Taurus will last eight years and we will experience tremendous transformation during that time. It’s time to get out of our heads and back into our bodies, to connect with Mother Earth and Grandmother Gaia, our beloved planet in a more real and caring way.
I’m taking part in an amazing free online event that is really leading the way with this. It’s a whole weekend devoted to self-stewarding through conscious living on our beautiful planet. I’m doing a one hour talk ‘A Connection between the Body and Grandmother Gaia’ on the Friday afternoon 9th September at 3pm BST, it would be great to see you there. There are some amazing speakers booked and it’s all free!

The shake-ups and wake-ups can also be as simple as starting to do things differently because we feel different inside. All of us are very aware that everything is constantly changing, the weather patterns, the way we’re having to live our lives, etc., and the more we can learn to cope with these changes the better. The more willing we are to shift and go along with the changes, the quicker we will realise the reason why.
So be like Virgo, sit down and plan how you are going to manage and what you are going to do about it. Plan what changes you can make now and ongoing. Allow creative ideas to come through that will also help. What future do you want for yourself? Write it down in full, glorious detail, don’t worry about the how - be more focused on the why. It’s a perfect time to plan and prepare.
Heads up, Mercury (planet of Communication) is going retrograde 9th September to 2nd October. Be aware that snafus start appearing in the week before the 9th, and don’t settle until at least a week after 2nd October. So get planning before that.
This week’s Virgo New Moon may trigger arguments, is it time for you to speak your truth and stand up for yourself? The planets give you the courage to do this. Be aware that everyone may be feeling a bit sensitive around this New Moon, so whilst you would like to really have a go at your nearest and dearest, it’s probably better not to!
With all that's going on, it’s so important to look after yourself. Many of us are getting weary of the changes; this isn’t an easy ride at the moment. It’s really important to implement your self-care practices regularly.
Have that lovely long bubble bath, pick up those weights and do a little bit every day, cut down on the chocolates, get outside whenever you can and move your body by having a good walk in Nature and really re-connect with all that lovely healing green. Drink water little and often to keep any stress toxins flushed out of your system.
Even on cr*ppy days, remember to find time for gratitude, and look for things to be grateful for. The sun shining, a connection with an animal, a kind word from someone, a butterfly, it’s the little things we are grateful for that help more good things come into our lives.
Stay grounded. When we are upset or tired we tend to go up in the air a bit, get outside and plant those feet firmly on the ground. Eat regularly so that your blood sugars are balanced. Do some housework or gardening, both are grounding.
In Feng Shui, Virgo rules the gut and lower intestines. Look after your tummy, it has to process so much. And always trust your gut instinct. Try and avoid being critical especially criticizing yourself, don’t be hard on yourself or others. I know that’s not easy when you’re feeling stressed and upset, however there’s enough cr*p for everyone to deal with right now without adding to it.
Keys to ride this wave:
Gratitude
Plan
Prepare
Ground
Focus on future goals
Care for self and planet
Trust
New Moon Blessings to y’all!
Elly
